Help & FAQ

Everything you need to know about using TalkScrolls — and how to reach us.

What is TalkScrolls?

A calmer, text-first discussion community. You join with just a username, read and post in topics, and the community keeps things civil through reporting — not an army of moderators.

Accounts & privacy

We only ever ask for a username and an email — no real name, phone, or photo. We don't track you across the web or sell data. From your profile you can change your details, download all your data, or delete your account. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Posting, replies & languages

Posts and comments support Markdown (bold, italics, links). You can edit or delete your own messages for a short window after posting. Premium members can read and post in multiple languages; everyone else uses one.

Moderation & reporting

See something that breaks the rules? Use the Report action on a post and pick a reason. Offensive is treated as serious and can hide a post quickly; wrong language / duplicate / off-topic are minor and only act when repeated. Posts reported by enough people are hidden automatically, and repeat offenders are temporarily or permanently blocked. Each topic can also have its own topic moderators who tidy content within that topic, while site-wide blocking stays with the TalkScrolls staff. This keeps the community civil without heavy-handed moderation.

Premium

TalkScrolls is free and never deliberately crippled — free users only see ads. Optional Premium removes ads and adds a few extras (multiple languages, members-only groups, bigger podcast storage and image uploads, a featured podcast, and a premium flair) for supporters who want to help the project grow.

Reporting abuse, illegal content / DMCA

For harassment, illegal content, copyright/DMCA or privacy issues — anything that needs a person to look, not just a post flag — sign in and use our abuse & legal report form. We review every report.

If you don't have an account, email us at talkscrolls@proton.me. Please include:

  • the link(s) to the specific content,
  • a description of the problem (and, for copyright, proof you own or represent the work),
  • your contact details, and
  • for DMCA: a good-faith statement and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate.

We review these reports promptly and remove unlawful content. Suspected child-exploitation material is removed and reported to the relevant authorities.
